Dartmouth College Academic Skills Center

The Dartmouth College Academic Skills Center is located in Room 301 of the college's Collis Center. The ASC is open and committed to serving the entire college community and helping students to become more effective and efficient learners. All Dartmouth students who wish to improve their academic skills are welcome to come explore the opportunities and services offered at the ASC.

The Academic Skills Center was founded in 1960, and has been growing and expanding ever since.[1] The ASC now includes the Tutor Clearinghouse and Study Group program. The Tutor Clearinghouse recruits students who have had great academic success in their courses and wish to tutor students in those courses who want extra help. The tutor and tutee meet on their own arranged time for as long as is deemed necessary.[2] The Study Group program facilitates group study outside of classes. Students sign-up to join study groups of up to eight people with one study group leader who has previously performed well in the class. These groups meet once a week to review class material and discuss difficult concepts for the benefit of all group members.[2]
